Graham Peacock

I spent twenty years lecturing in the Department of Mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University before taking early retirement to focus on private tutoring. My PhD research was in algebraic geometry, and I bring that deep specialist knowledge to my teaching at every level.

I tutor GCSE, A-level, and university-level mathematics, with particular expertise in algebra, geometry, and proof-based mathematics. I have helped hundreds of students over my career, from those struggling with basic algebra to those preparing for Oxbridge interviews.

My teaching philosophy is built on patience and precision. Mathematics requires careful, logical thinking, and I model that thinking process for my students. I solve problems alongside them, talking through every decision, and gradually hand over responsibility as their confidence grows.

I am known for my ability to diagnose exactly where a student's understanding has broken down. Often the problem lies not with the current topic but with a foundation concept from years earlier. I trace these gaps back to their source and repair them, building solid foundations for everything that follows.
