Alex Kavanagh

I am a staff software engineer at one of the UK's largest financial services companies, where I lead the architecture of customer-facing web applications serving millions of users. Over eight years, I have progressed from graduate developer to staff engineer, and I have mentored dozens of junior and mid-level developers along the way.

What sets my tutoring apart is that I teach the skills that matter for career progression, not just technical proficiency. Writing clean code is table stakes — what gets you promoted is system design thinking, effective communication, understanding business context, and the ability to mentor others. I teach all of this.

My technical expertise centres on TypeScript, React, Node.js, and cloud architecture (AWS). But I am equally comfortable teaching algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals. I prepare students for technical interviews at companies including Google, Amazon, Meta, and major UK firms.
