Rebecca Hartley

I hold an MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Nottingham and work part-time in a research laboratory alongside my tutoring practice. Having one foot in active research keeps my teaching current and allows me to share real scientific discoveries with my students.

I specialise in biology, genetics, and anatomy for GCSE, A-level, and university-level students. My teaching style is visual and story-driven. I explain biological processes as narratives with characters, conflicts, and resolutions - because that is how the human brain remembers information most effectively.

My lessons are filled with diagrams, animations, and real-world case studies. I find that students who have struggled with biology in classroom settings often thrive in one-to-one sessions where I can take the time to build understanding step by step, using the explanations and analogies that resonate with them specifically.

I have a particular talent for making genetics accessible. DNA replication, protein synthesis, gene regulation, and inheritance patterns are topics many students find intimidating, but with the right explanations they become logical and even elegant. I love seeing the moment when a student's confusion transforms into genuine understanding.
