Literature is not about memorising what critics have said — it is about learning to read deeply and think originally. My tutoring sessions are close-reading workshops where we sit with a text, notice what is happening at the level of language, and build interpretations that are genuinely your own. This approach consistently produces essays that examiners describe as fresh and sophisticated.
I am particularly strong on the Romantics, the Victorians, and twentieth-century fiction, but I have taught everything from Chaucer to Zadie Smith. For creative writing, I offer structured feedback on short stories, poetry, and novel extracts, helping you develop your voice and craft.
My teaching style is warm, bookish, and intellectually rigorous. If you love reading and want to get better at writing about it, we will get along famously.
“Good tutor overall. Solid knowledge and clear explanations. Sometimes goes a bit fast but happily repeats when asked. Decent value.”
“Very professional and well-prepared. My grades improved significantly after just a few sessions. The structured approach makes all the difference.”
“Patient and encouraging, even when I struggled with the basics. Never made me feel judged. Genuinely invested in my progress.”
“Reliable and professional. Sessions are always on time. Could be slightly more dynamic in presentation style but the content is excellent.”
