Richard Pemberton

I hold a PhD in Economic History from the London School of Economics, where I subsequently lectured for eight years on globalisation, development economics, and the history of capitalism. My published research on post-war British economic policy has been cited over two hundred times in academic journals.

Six years ago, I transitioned from full-time academia to private tutoring, and I have never looked back. The freedom to work one-on-one with motivated students is intellectually and personally far more rewarding than lecturing to a hall of three hundred.

My students are a varied group: A-Level economists aiming for Oxford, IB students tackling their Extended Essay, university undergraduates struggling with econometrics, and adult learners fascinated by economic history. What unites them is a desire to understand economics not as a set of models on a whiteboard, but as a living discipline that explains how the world actually works.

I am known for making complex economic concepts intuitive through historical examples and real-world case studies. My students do not just learn to pass exams — they learn to think like economists.
